Chilly May Library Attire

I love shopping for Reagan!  Not only are the clothes in her size super cute, but she will pretty much wear anything that I put on her.

Monday’s are library days for Reagan and her cousins.  Comfy clothes are in order, since there is a lot of quiet sitting and not a whole lot of movement…who am I kidding…she is all over every inch of the kids section of the library.  She sits and listens during story time, sings songs, reads books, plays with blocks and puzzles, colors, plays on the computer, climbs stairs to gaze at the beautiful doll house, puts on puppet shows and drenches herself every single time that she attempts to drink out of the water fountain.

It was rather chilly this morning here in Rochester, 46 degrees…perfect jeans weather!

I

I love this zipper sweat shirt jacket from Gap Kids.  Its super soft and buttons as well as zips.  This double closure is fantastic for Reagan, because she is becoming a pro at unzipping and taking things off, but hasn’t yet figured out buttons.  If she gets the zipper down, I know the jacket will stay on. Unfortunately, I can’t locate the jacket online.  It was purchased in NYC, off of the sales rack, about a month ago.

Reagan’s adorable raspberry colored crocheted hat was purchased at Old Navy back in February. Check out these adorable crocheted hats

Reagan rocks Chucks, just like her daddy! I love this aqua color!

The ‘tu tu cute’ long sleeved  gray shirt is from Old Navy- similar graphic t’s.  These cotton shirts are my go to for Reagan.  The cotton is super soft and cleans fabulously!  The only problem that we have with these shirts, is that I find them to be short in the torso, so I always buy a size up.

These Old Nay colored jeans are a huge hit with Reagan.  Reagan owns  4 different pairs of these jeans.  She’s very proud of herself when she searches through her pants drawer and finds the color that she’s looking for!  These jeans do stretch out, however, it takes several hours for them to do so.

Socks!! It took forever to find the perfect socks for Reagan.  Her feet were growing, but she still needed tread on the bottoms of her socks- We have wood flooring and tile throughout our home, with the exception of Reagan’s room. – These reindeer socks are from Janie and Jack.  Here are the same socks but with kite’s on them- Reagan has these too!

Perfect library outfit for a chilly Rochester day!

Forever 21 Finds

The other day while waiting to check out at Forever 21 in Soho I noticed one of the sales associates with a pile of untagged jewelry at the register. Among the pile I spotted what appeared to be lookalikes of Stella & Dot’s Renegade Cluster Bracelet . Although I’ve seen it on countless of the fashion blogs I read, it was never something I was dying to have.

At $59, the bracelet was too trendy to be worthy of that price tag.  But for a Forever 21 price, sure! Why not?  I immediately spoke up and asked him if they were for sale. He shot back with a sharp “no” and looked back down at the keyboard. I put my headphones back on and continued to wait in line. Less than a minute later the girl behind me in line was tapping on my shoulder and pointing to the guy. He asked if I still wanted them because they were available and he was searching for the price. I quickly replied yes and he said he’d keep looking. The girl who had tapped me on the shoulder did so again but this time asked if I was going to buy both the silver and the gold. She looked bummed when I told her yes and then rolled up her sleeve to reveal that she was wearing the renegade cluster and said, “it looks just like the Stella and Dot one!” Although it’s not an exact replica, as there are no crystal clusters, for the $6.80 price tag, it’s well worth adding it into a future stack.

Bra Service!

I’m absolutely in LOVE with the service that True&Co. provides. It takes everything out of shopping for a bra that I hate…

#1- the old ladies measuring you with their creepy cold hands

#2- using the one shirt that you wore to the store as the end all be all for how your boobs will look in the rest of your clothing (at least your staple go to pieces)

#3- the constant thought that there is a camera somewhere watching everything go down

#4- knowing that once you take home this rather expensive piece of material; you will probably hate it, never wear it and end up not returning it because going back to the mall, parking your car and trying to return something without the receipt (because you lost it) all with an 18 month old is NOT happening!

So thank you, True&Co., thank you for giving me my first ever fabulously bearable bra experience – it’s been a long 20 years.

I came across this company on NAT THE FAT RAT . She raved about the ease of ordering and the beauty of the bras that were sent to her, so I figured I had nothing to lose.

The process is so simple and there is no pressure to keep any of the bras that you try.

Here’s what you NEED to do:

Start by going to https://trueandco.com and filing out their two-minute Bra survey. Questions such as ‘How do your breasts rest in your bra?’, “Do your cups runneth underneath?’, “Ouch! Does your bra hurt?” Don’t worry about being confused by the questions, they have pictures, for us visual learners, indicating EXACTLY what they are talking about. This is a simple click and go survey, no long and tedious questions to answer.

After completing the survey you provide your email address and create a password. Then the shopping begins! The Bra Experts pick out two bras, that they believe you will LOVE, based on the answers to your survey questions and you get to pick out three bras from their fabulous selection!

You pay a $48 deposit and they ship you the bras you chose! You have 7 days to try on the bras in the comfort of your own home. Keep the bras you want, return the bras you don’t. Print out and attach their return shipping label to the box that the bras arrived in–NO RETURN SHIPPING FEE!!! Pure awesomeness!!

This service allowed for me to try on each bra underneath various articles of clothing, show my husband to get his opinion and best of all… everything took place in the comfort of my own home! All five bras that came were beautiful and fit in their own unique way. In the end, I only ended up keeping one bra. I’m still breast-feeding, so I needed a bra that would give a little for when I’m ‘full’ and not look ridiculous when I’m ’empty’. I will definitely be using the service when I’m finish with the beloved breast-feeding process.

It’s all about the party… on your arm!

20130310-093041.jpg

Stacking, stacks or arm party are all things I’m likely to be calling the collection of items that ends up on my wrist. What is much less likely is my wrist being empty or only occupied by solely a watch when I leave the house in the morning. An obsession with costume jewelry is a polite way to put it but hey, everyone has their vices so what if this may be mine (or is it just one of mine, who’s really counting?).

I always start with the watch, be it gold, silver, black or rose, and then choose the rest of the stack from there. It’s fun to mix it up, wear new arrangements and make it interesting. Even in a simple t-shirt and jeans, a decorated wrist can turn the whole outfit around. When wearing a crowded stack I try and stick to simple jewelry elsewhere with studs and a thin chained necklace.

I’ve been trained not to play favorites, especially while teaching, but my gold Michael Kors watch would win, hands down. It’s my go-to that has been around for 5 years and for me to even like something for that long is an achievement. When buying costume jewelry, I rarely spend over $10/$20 on an item, mainly because they are from Forever 21 or deeply discounted at J.Crew and also because I will probably be over it in a season or two. But even when I’m over it, I still have a problem letting go. It’ll probably live in the jewelry closet for a while and maybe when one day I’ll get inspired to add it back into a new stack. Purging is not my strong suit and I have way too many things in my closet I haven’t worn because maybe…sometime…in the future, I’ll be mad I got rid of that gray knee length cotton dress that hugged me too tightly or maybe it will be in the same spot until we move out of this apartment? Anyways, if it’s here, it has a place and it’s organized, until I finally let go. But in the end it’s all about the party…on your arm.

Head to Toe

20130226-192641.jpg

As I looked down while walking yesterday, I realized I was in head to toe J.Crew…most of my jewelry included. I wish I could say that this is not a common occurrence but that would be false. With classic styles, great fit and fabulous jewelry, J.Crew is my go-to, número uno choice of store. The always occurring sales, with additional markdowns AND a student/teacher ID discount of an additional 15% off doesn’t hurt either! Thanks to a recent sale with additional 50% then my 15%, I snagged these pink leather flats for just $21 down from over $140 retail! I am a sucker for a sale and that’s what created today’s look along with the majority of my wardrobe.
