Jean Jacket Search

It can still get a little chilly some days here in Rochester and the temperature definitely drops when the sun goes down.  I’ve been on the look out for a super cute jean jacket for Reagan for those days when a heavy sweatshirt is too much and a light sweater isn’t enough. I  haven’t had much luck in the size department, it’s one of those things that I really want…so it’s inevitable that her size will always be sold out or the only one left in her size will be defective; with a gigantic red stain on the front.

I was up before Reagan this morning, to see my husband off on a motorcycle trip, so I decided to do a little searching.

I found some super cute jackets, between twenty and fifty dollars, and available in her size! Now, the question is…which ones do I order?

Zootiful!

The zoo couldn’t have been a better place for our last-minute play date.  The best part about having a zoo membership is that it doesn’t matter if you stay digging for fossils for 80% of your visit…hey why not…you can always come back tomorrow!

I do wonder how often that rock pit get’s cleaned…and to never have that thought again…

We love this guy!

My boys sure do love their dad! He is the one who can make them laugh more than anyone else, is the most fun to play super heros with and is the one big H loves to snuggle up with at night. For Father’s Day this year we decided to get him something to help with his half marathon training and knew that he would love these Lululemon shorts. We also picked up this cool bottle opener that he can hang on a tree at the cottage. He loved both of course but what he loved the most, and always does, was our homemade project. As usual I got the idea somewhere on Pinterest. I seriously wish I had an ounce of the creativity that I find on that site. What did we ever do without it??

The only supplies that we needed were one of daddy’s ties, a pair of his dress shoes, a camera and two little boys in just their underpants and diaper. To say that either one of them are at ages to be cooperative when it comes to taking photos would be completely untrue as evidenced by the countless outtakes that surfaced of little H about to burst into tears and Big H not being able to stand still. We did manage to get a couple that daddy loved and that’s all that matters.

He couldn’t wait to take them to work and put them on his desk. He loves to show off his boys! We spent that day hanging out inside watching movies and playing games since the weather decided not to cooperate with our other plans. There may have been some ice cream involved too…daddy’s favorite! I was going through our pics since little H was born and there seems to be a trend with him in our family shots that I hope doesn’t continue…

Word World

Screen Shot 2013-06-18 at 9.30.44 AM

Welcome to the place where words come alive! Word World has been Reagan’s show of choice for the past few months. Luckily, we have Hulu and can access multiple episodes at anytime. I absolutely love doing hands on activities with Reagan, however, there are times when the TV saves me from a serious melt down as I try to wean Reagan from her morning breast feed. It also, at times, is the perfect addition to a letter, word or color that we are learning or simply just allows for me to unload the dishwasher.
Word World is bright, colorful, fun and musical! The characters are animals and mostly everything, including the characters, in Word World are shaped by the spelling of their names. After doing a little research on the show I discovered that it is partially funded by the United States Department of Education as part of the Ready to Learn literacy initiative targeted to 3- to 7-year olds, and airs in 10 languages and in 90 countries! The show aims to focus on print awareness, Phonics sensitivity and letter knowledge, Reading comprehension (including vocabulary development) and socio-emotional skills. (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/WordWorld)
This is a fabulous show for teaching early literacy skills. Reagan is in love with the show; she is singing, dancing and spelling every time that it’s on!  I absolutely approve of dog, frog, pig and sheep building words at my house!

Here’s a clip from one of Reagan’s favorite episodes !

Maxxinista Finds

I’ve always been a fan of TJ Maxx and Marshall’s but never stopped by their jewelry counters. A couple months back Kim, from Penny Pincher Fashion , posted a picture on Instagram of an incredible necklace that she had found at TJ with the hashtag #maxxinista. After scrolling through other people’s great jewelry finds, I made it a point to look next time I was in a store. While it is definitely hit or miss because every store carries different merchandise, I have found some gorge pieces at maxxinista prices. I guess all those commercials they air constantly are paying off (and helping me save at the same time!) Have you found any great pieces?
