Friday Favorites

This is how Hudson felt at the vet last week. He is now happily out of the neck doughnut and will be back at the dog park this weekend!

Last week we got a great response from this post so we are going to make it a regular thing. Enjoy some fun links and even more fun sales!

Who didn’t want to learn the finale routine from Dirty Dancing? Better yet, they performed it at their wedding reception!

I may or may not have watched this entire thing and continually laughed throughout. If you love game shows and when people say ridiculous answers you must watch this montage.

I had Samantha, what about you?

This new product could simplify a lot of lives; very futuristic way of handling finances.

It’s no secret that we love Hudson but this list confirmed just how much.

Mr. Rogers was a staple in our house and I’m sure yours too, learn even more reasons to admire him. (I also watched the Senate video they suggest)

Everyone’s busy but we should all take the time to slow down and try to do more of these, #1 is a personal favorite!

This guy helped save a family of ducklings and then led them to water.

Couldn’t agree more about this video promoting non-girly girls toys. You go, girls!

Losing weight and reaching your goal isn’t always what you thought it would be. My friend, Jess, shares her story here.

Wegmans is the best. Hands down, no competition. If you need to be convinced or just reminded, read on.

Just because bird-dog hybrids are silly and ridiculous.

Cosmo has more than just sex tips, as evidenced by not one, but two friends who wrote articles this week. Alie’s is a must read, obviously.

Love this skirt and chunky turtleneck look.

Can’t wait to try out this shopping app Devon recommended.

Went to get this Old Navy sweater after seeing it here but all they had was XXL, but coats were 40% off that day so I got this instead.

J.Crew is still killing it with extra 40% off sale and they keep adding new styles.  I scored what could be my best deal ever at J.Crew this week when I got these shiny ponies for only $34.  Someone must have returned them to the store and they were marked as $69.99, still $179.99 online.

Ann Taylor is additional 50% off sale, Factory is additional 40% off sale, Old Navy has been running crazy promotion after crazy promotion this week (check in for daily deals) and Gap and Banana are 40% full price styles.  Happy Shopping!

Friday Favorites

On the world wide web, I come across countless articles, videos, photos and sales every week.  Some are worth sharing and others…well they’re not.  To share some favorite links from the week along with some upcoming sales to plan your weekend shopping, we are beginning a new series on Fridays.

Most Loved Links of the Week:

Lena Dunham interviews Mindy Kaling in this hilarious article

Jenna Lyons (J.Crew God) shares her 10 fashion commandments and why she thinks trend is a dirty word

If you aren’t already following @aliemartell on Twitter, you should go do that. Right now.  She writes for Cosmo and always has the best tweets and shared links.  Hudson even got a shout out this week!

Who doesn’t love a Friends themed Buzzfeed?  This one got me so excited to be home soon for Thanksgiving!

It seems like every time I go on Facebook these days someone is engaged, married or pregnant.  I’m sure you’ve an example of each one of the 5 most Annoying Facebook Engagement announcements.  (Apologies if you did one of these)

Our mom hated Abercrombie when I was a teenager, I don’t think it was around for Erin and Meaghan, was it?  She would’ve hated it for you guys too.  It was loud, had an overwhelming cologne smell and the clothes were way overpriced.    The CEO also happens to be a jerk.  Check out why and thanks mom, you really do always know best!

Damsel in Dior is one of my all time favorite blogs!  Her style and taste are impeccable and her holiday gift guide is a must read; I’ve already picked several things for people on my list.

I was on Nike’s site the other day checking out some dunks because I love mine and they are really killing it with woman’s shoes.  I want these, these and winter boots, yes please!

J.Crew is currently having a sale with an additional sale.  40% already markdown prices and even better if you have a student or teacher ID you get 15% more on top of that.  I stopped in yesterday and picked up this gorgeous jeweled sweater in gray and this striped sweater with the blue back.  I also love this, this and this!  I spotted my favorite boots this fall on sale in store for $199 yesterday.  They are still full price online but an incredible deal with the discount.  Check your local store! (I should never be allowed near a J.Crew store or site during these sales!)

Happy Reading and TGIF!

Falling for New York Again

Sometimes I find myself in a love/hate relationship with New York. There are countless things that can be aggravating and frustrating about this concrete jungle but then I have week like this past one and it makes me appreciate all the things that can only happen here.

Hudson got neutered today, which can happen everywhere. But our walk from the clinic to MSG, for our second Knicks game this week, was in the perfect fall weather. The air was crisp and the leaves were out in all their fall glory and the best part was that it was early enough to beat the tourist crowds.

Our little guy is now home recovering and not happy about his blue inflatable ring around his neck, but much happier than with the cone of shame.

New York, this week you brought friends’ engagement celebrations, excitement at work, double dates, and obviously some great shopping finds. (this, this, want this in every color and it’s on sale!) I promise to
remember this week next time I miss a subway, someone steals my cab or I am carrying all my groceries home.

An Organized Attempt

20131104-174640.jpg

Life changes drastically when you have a baby. However, when that baby becomes a toddler, life becomes a whole new type of crazy!
If we thought we were busy before; add into the mix school, swim and dance lessons, play dates, story hour at the library, nap time, along with lunches and dinners with family and friends.

My husband is an insanely talented and uber busy Realtor, that sometimes needs an extra reminder when he’s wanted at a preschool Halloween party or an extended family dinner. I decided to create a large color coded calendar to help both my husband and I get organized by seeing the month laid out somewhere other than on our cell phones. Each month I highlight in yellow the events that I would like for my husband to attend. I do still verbally tell him what’s going on throughout the month, but this calendar gives me my, ‘ yes, you did know about this’ when he tells his mother that I never told him about dinner at her house. :) Other events such as our daughters doctors appointments and school activities are listed, so that I don’t forget and if my husband has time, he can join us.

Material

20131104-172952.jpg
Large Sheet of Paper
Pen or Pencil
Ruler
Paint
Paint Brush
Markers- not pictured

20131104-171415.jpg
Measure and square off the size of calendar that you want.

20131104-171420.jpg

20131104-171431.jpg
Measure the length of the vertical side of your calendar and divide the length by the number of weeks in that month.
23 inches divided by 6 weeks equals 3.8333
So each line should be about 4 inches apart.

20131104-171425.jpg
Take the number 7 (number of days in a week) and divide it into the length of the horizontal line of the square.
23 inches divided by 7 equals 3.285
So each horizontal line should be about 3 inches apart.

20131104-171436.jpg
Label the days of the week.

20131104-171443.jpg
Make sure to check a calendar to assure yourself that you are starting to number on the correct day of the week. Number your calendar and add a name to the top.

20131104-171449.jpg
Add in to dos.

20131104-171619.jpg
Highlight what you need that special busy someone to attend.
